Have you ever hung on someone’s every word? I mean really paid attention. Did you remember the surroundings, the sounds, the smells? I know that may sound dramatic. However, all of those senses help us to remember.
Yesterday, I was hanging on my mom’s every word. As I have mentioned before, she has been fighting cancer…2 years and 3 months’ worth. Yesterday was a little different. It was the first time I saw my mom with a hat on with no hair coming out of the bottom. My last visit with her, she had a hat on with the little remains of her hair hanging out of the bottom. I picked her up to take her to chemo and I have to admit…it was a little difficult to see her like that. Of course she was still stylish and beautiful. She had a presence about her that exudes positivity and a fighting spirit.
Back to the hanging on every word…as I sat with mom yesterday at her chemo, I found myself hanging on her every word. She truly would laugh at that statement. She would say that she was not saying anything of importance. Oh yes she was. She was speaking into my life even though she did not know it. We shared time together shopping online for some new hats to cover her “chemo head”. She wanted some spring colors and we happily scrolled and found a few. She talked about food and cooking. She is an amazing cook and loves to talk about food, recipes, cooking, and ideas. I don’t love to cook, but I love to watch her as she talks about something she loves.
What is my point in all of this…we don’t know how long we have on this earth and or how long we have with the ones we love. This week I was hanging on every word of my mom’s. Last week, I was at dinner with all three of my daughters. I was hanging on their every word and savoring the moment. We need to “WEAR THE PERFUME!” in our lives daily! Life is too short…hang on every word.
Thank you for stopping by!
WEAR THE PERFUME!
