Do you ever think about doing something and then don’t? Does it require planning that you don’t want to do or is it just inconvenient? Even if it is something you really want to do, I can guess that you just don’t do it because of the effort. I can say that because I am guilty for sure!
I thought about this when me and my friends were planning a Zoom get together. We could play it easy and just continue to text as a group, at least once a week. I mean…the texting gave us the details we needed and desired to learn about each other’s lives. However, you really can’t place a text over seeing your friends smiling face on a screen. Of course, the ultimate is being together in person, which doesn’t happen often with us not living in the same town and one lives in a different state.
Side note: photos are from our trip to Vegas and the Grand Canyon in November 2019.
We have been through a lot “together” this year via text. Here is a quick summary: 4 COVID cases, 1 resulting in a spouse ending up in the hospital for quite some time; deaths of 2 mother-in-laws; cancer battle for my mom; job loss; a move from TX to FL; one friend is a nurse so imagine those struggles; one is a teacher so she had her career upended as well; birthdays; joys of family; prayers for each other when requested; pictures of family; memories of times past and I could go on and on. Thank goodness for texting! Truly it really is a blessing that allows the four of us to communicate together and quickly. BUT we need more. Here is where the “inconvenient” comes into play.
We decided to set up a Zoom get together monthly. We started our first one for a Christmas “party”. Oh how it warmed my heart to see my friends faces right there in my office! We had so much fun! We vowed to do it monthly. Time got away from us and we didn’t have one scheduled until last night (about 7 weeks later than our first one). It is not easy to schedule a time that works for all of us. We all still work and one of us lives in a different time zone. Back to last night, I had to postpone due to a work conflict. We could have just decided to skip this month just to make it easy. We DIDN’T take the easy way…we rescheduled for three nights later. I still have our Zoom “friend fest” to look forward to this week. It is worth any effort it takes.
All that being said…life will pass you by and those precious moments won’t happen if you don’t make them happen.
DO THE INCONVENIENT…BE INTENTIONAL!
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!
