We went on vacation a few weeks ago to Hilton Head Island. We were invited by some friends we have known for years. They were going with two other couples we had never met.
We jumped in with a resounding “YES”! We were blessed to get to know new people. If we hadn’t agreed to do something that might make some people uncomfortable, we would have never enjoyed the blessing of new friends.
Hilton Head Island is so beautiful, laid back and a great vacation spot. We had been once before and really looked forward to going back. One of our favorite activities from our first trip was to ride bikes. Hilton Head Island has bike paths throughout the entire island. It is so fun! We did something this trip we had never done before! We rode our bikes over 12 miles round trip to go to lunch!! I know someone reading this may say 12 miles is nothing. Well, we aren’t regular bike riders, so it was a little beyond our norm! Along the way, we enjoyed the beautiful bikes paths, the wonderful company of our friends, the warmth of the sunshine and a few alligator sightings. Once we got to our destination, The Salty Dog Café, we enjoyed a delicious lunch with great conversation. The “something new” of riding bikes to lunch on Hilton Head Island was such a blessing and oh so fun!
The week continued to bring many fun moments, even though the weather did not completely cooperate. However, our last night there provided the opportunity to try a new game – Bocce Ball! It was any Bocce Ball game…we played on the beach behind our rental home. We laughed, we trashed talked each other, we yelled and had a fabulous time. We played so long the tide came in and soaked our towel…we think it took our new Salty Dog Café koozie out to sea (hubby was sad about that – ha!). We had to keep moving all of our belongings closer to our rental home as the tide came in. The darkness started to overtake us on the beach, but we played a little longer. My point…we tried something new and it was one of the highlights of the trip. The laughter, the friends, the sound of the ocean, learning a new game…all of it was a fabulous memory made.
Try new things. You don’t have to go on vacation to do that. You can be in your own hometown and still try something new. Go to a restaurant you have never been to, walk a different path, take up bike riding if you don’t normally do that activity…and the list can go on.
Enjoy something new because life is just too short. WEAR THE PERFUME!
Thank you for stopping by!
